A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy square double-sided Antwerp coin weight for a Rijder coin, dated 1583 on weight. The coin weight was made in Antwerp by a maker whose work is recorded but whose name is not known (Withers and Withers 1995: 10 and 60).
Obverse: Horse and rider going right within a beaded circle, horseman possibly brandishing a sword. Initials: GHEL (Gelderse Rijder) below.
Reverse: Hand, flanked by F I and 8 3 at sides, V above
Length: 15.1mm; width: 14.9mm; thickness: 1.4mm. Weight: 188g.
This weight is corroded and dull crimson.
