Lead spindle whorl. Cast cylindrical flat sided whorl with a moulded central aperture of diameter 10.2mm, Walton Rogers form B. The spindle size may suggest an Anglo-Scandinavian date, while the mass may indicate a primary function plying cord. The surface is smoothed, suggesting wear from long use and, subsequently, a sympathetic burial environment. Suggested date: Early Medieval, 950-1100.
Diameter: 30.1mm, Thickness: 8.1mm, Weight: 50.32gms.
