A complete post-Medieval or Modern copper-alloy cufflink element (c. 1898-c. 1950).
The element is oval in plan, flat at the front with a soldered attachment loop at the rear. The front has an engraved (or perhaps cast) depiction of a ciborium or chalice which is cross-hatched and beaded. The lid is surmounted by a cross. At the front there is a zigzag border at the edge of the element.
Length: 16.6mm; width: 12.4mm; thickness: 1.3mm; thickness including loop: 5.7mm. Weight: 1.46g.
This object is white metal coated at the front and may be silver.
Notes:
The cufflink may have belonged to a member of the Guild of Servants of the Sanctuary who served at an Anglican Communion Service (pers. comm. Mrs Vanessa Crookes, 25/10/2016).
