An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy 'fob dangler' from a seal matrix (c. 1750-c. 1850).
The intaglio or matrix and its holder are missing.
The body is symmetrical in plan and consists of two elements and an attachment loop. Each element is similar in design and shape. In plan, the elements are roughly semi-circular with an attachment loop at the top. The two elements and the loop were made separately and then joined by solder. There are pellets decorating each element and the loop on the outer surfaces. Each element has two lobes at the base. The lower lobe was attached to the missing holder.
This object is reddish brown with green corrosion products. Gilding can be seen on the inner faces of the elements but not on their outer faces. There is a fracture between one of the elements and the attachment loop.
Height: 26.3mm; overall width: 21.0mm; thickness of each element: c. 1.4mm; overall thickness: 6.6mm; width of loop: 6.7mm; diameter of hole: 4.6mm. Weight: 5.04g.
