Date: c. AD 1600 - 1700.
Discussion: No exact parallel for this object could be found, however, Read (2008, p. 181 - 182) discusses a number of broadly similar copper alloy examples which he assigns to the early post medieval period. The form of this example could potentially be slightly later, hence the date range proposed.
The object appears to consist of over 10% precious metal and be over 300 years old at the time of finding and as such qualifies as potential Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.
