A Roman very worn cast copper-alloy looped handle escutcheon plate attachment for a vessel, c.AD43-250. The object is triangular in plan with an integral looped handle attachment with is mishapen with ware. The reverse is curved to fit against a curved rim of the vessel. The front of the escutcheon is decorated with a moulded male bust with a prominannt hair detail. There is iron staining on both side of the object.
A very similar example can be seen on the database: NMS-CD0FF0. Dating comes from SUR-17D794 which is also illustrated and discussed in Sally Worrel (2006, 465)
