A cast copper-alloy fragment from a looped strap fitting of later medieval or post medieval date. The fragment is U or staple shaped in plan, rectangular in profile and has an oval cross section. The terminals are both broken and worn. The internal surface of the loop is worn and abraded through wear. The fragment is a mid green colour with a well formed polished surface patina. It is likely that the fragment is from something similar to a crotal or rumbler bell.
The fragment measures 20.8mm in length, 16.9mm in width, is a maximum of 4.8mm thick, and weighs 7.09 grams.
