A Post Medieval gold thimble of 18th century date. The base of the thimble is circular in plan and measures 13.5mm in diameter and has a lip which rolls outwards. The walls of the thimble taper slightly towards the top, where the diameter measures 12mm. The outer surface is covered in small indentations. The very top of the thimble is domed and has a series of small impressions arranged in concentric circles.
Notes:
Whilst this thimble is made of gold, it cannot be securely dated to a date of AD 1716 or earlier, so it has not been submitted as Treasure (pers comm, Dora Thornton October 2016).
