Copper alloy probable harness pendant. Cast heater shield-shaped plate with the stub of a suspension loop [now lost] on its upper straight edge. Kevin Woodward kindly comments as follows, correcting an earlier description by this reporter: 'The heraldic description of the arms is incorrect, especially the 'bend' part as it shows a 'fess dancetty' not a 'bend' which is a diagonal band. These arms appear to be for the D'Eyncourt family - a well known Lincolnshire family. The full heraldic description will be "Sable, a fess dancetty between ten billets, four and six, Or". There is a trace of gilding on the fess dancetty, but the enamel field is now reduced to slight greenish patches, presumably stained by corrosion. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1350.
