Lead alloy finger ring. Crudely cast ring, approaching a stirrup shape with a thickened raised bezel bearing three crudely incised adjacent slashes. Traces of gilding remain within and without the band. Though the internal diameter would suggest a young and/or female wearer, the construction might seem more apt to theatrical costume or fancy dress or to a toy. At all events, this is less sophisticated in its appearance than most 19th-century fairings or trinket rings. Suggested date: Post-Medieval to Modern, 1800-1940.
Internal diameter: 16.8mm, Height: 23.5mm, Band Width: 5.6mm, Band Thickness (opposite bezel): 2.8mm, Weight: 8.08gms
