A lead alloy spindle whorl of medieval to post-medieval date. The object is circular in plan and bi-conical. In the centre of the object is a circular perforation with an internal diameter of 10mm. The weight is undecorated. The spindle whorl has a light brown patina and is light brown in places.
Similar examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are typically dated broadly to the medieval period c.1100-1500.
The diameter is 25mm and the weight 17.95g.
