A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy end-cap from a scale-tang knife (1500-1600).

The cap is sub-rectangular in cross-section. It consists of two projections emulating horse hooves emerging diagonally from the base. The base is flat and has a recess containing a portion of an iron tang. This object is decorated with an incised line just above the base on both sides.

The cap is reddish brown with green corrosion products and the iron is corroded.

Height: 9.4mm; width: 12.7mm; thickness: 5.1mm. Weight: 3.09g.
