A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy star spur rowel (c. 1600-c. 1660).
This rowel is slightly convex on both faces. It has five evenly spaced 'fleur-de-lis' or trefoil points forming a star shape. At the centre there is a circular hole to accommodate a bar. The hole has a diameter of 1.7mm.
The object is reddish brown and light green in places.
Length: 45.5mm; width: 44.3mm; thickness: 3.4mm. Weight: 8.31g.
A comparable rowel has been published and dated 1600-1660 AD (Read 2001: 66, fig. 42, ref: 516).
