Cast copper alloy rim fragment from a bowl or cooking vessel with an internally bevelled rim that is triangular in profile and flush with the upper edge of the vessel. The body of the vessel curves downwards slightly to suggest a reasonably deep straight-sided bowl and the curvature of the rim suggests a diameter of about 240mm. The bevelled rim itself is 9mm thick which then tapers to the body which is 5mm thick. The surface of the interior and exterior is mottled with black burnt organic material, which suggests that the vessel was used for cooking.
Ottaway and Rogers (2002) illustrate a similar fragment of a cooking vessel with an internally bevelled rim on page 2810, fig.1394, no.14197, which is dated from the mid 15th century to the early 17th century.
