A gold necklace clasp dating to the Roman period. The clasp comprises a circular-section tapering piece of wire which has been bent back on itself to form a hook. The terminal of the wire has then been bent again to form a small curl. At the other end, the wire has been bent to form a small loop and has been secured by wrapping the wire around itself five times. The clasp measures 18mm in legth, 4mm in width at the hooked end and weighs 0.62 grams.
