A post-medieval copper alloy coin weight, dating to the late 17th century. The coin weight is rectangular in shape with punched decoration on both sides consisting of three annulets and a rectangular stamp (design uncertain and very worn). One annulet is central with the other two at neighbouring corners. The rectangular stamp is behind the central annulet and below a corner annulet.
The weight is similar to an example in Egan (2005, 162 no.833) but has three annulets instead of six. The additional stamp on this weight is a crowned I. This coin weight comes from a context dated by ceramic phasing to 1675 - 1700. Rather more similar are NARC-C67F71 and YORYM-671E72 on this database (with three annulets each side and a stamped lion passant), the latter of which is described as a bullion weight and its lion an unofficial mark of the goldsmiths which was used from around 1700 onwards. A parallel is given in Withers (1992, 19).
The coin weight measures 13.5x13.2x2.8mm and weighs 3.64g (56.2 grains).
