TREASURE CASE 2016 T764. A slightly damaged silver seal matrix of post-medieval date. The matris has an oval base which is incised with an heraldic lion rampant within a coiled border. The handle of the matrix reduces from a hexagonally faceted base into a collared shank topped by an openwork trefoil handle. Each foil has a small knop on its outer edge. This is a generic seal matrix rather than a personal seal and could have been bought 'off-the-shelf'. It dates from c. 17th century AD.
