Unique ID: SOM-16D5E9

Object type certainty: Certain

A flint end scraper of probable Neolithic date (c. 4000 - 2350 BC). The piece is struck off a tertiary flake / blade as there is no cortex remaining. The genral form is a broad, short, thick blade. The dorsal surface exhibits two negative flake scars from previous removals. There are breaks at the proximal end which appear to have removed the bulb of percussion although part of a strikeing platform remains. There is sub-parallel, semi abrupt retouch running along the distal end, long in the ceetre becoming short at the sides. Indents down both sides appear to be accidental damage rather than deliberate. The flint is light grey in colour, with a series of small cream coloured speckled inclsuions and larger white inclusions.

It is 58.09mm in length with a maximum width of 26.03mm and a minimum width of 23.56mm . It is 10.15mm thick, with a weight of 26.29g
