A fragment of the central disc of a probable two-part cloth seal of post-medieval date. The fragment appears to depict a grid pattern or possibly a portcullis. The latter design, usually with a crown above the portcullis, is seen on cloth seals from English counties during the reign of Elizabeth I (AD 1558-1603), although Egan (in Saunders 2001:60-61) also notes an example with reference to Henry VIII.
