Medieval silver-gilt pendant in the form of a crucifix. The suspension loop is now missing. The cross is flat with palmate terminals. On the front is a moulded figure of Jesus with head bent, body shaped in a long S, draped loins and feet on a cross board. Above his head is a square panel incised with an 8-point cross. On the back is a moulded figure of Mary holding the infant Jesus in her left arm. There are extensive traces of gilding on both sides.
Dimensions: It is 35.4mm long by 24.8mm wide and 7.9mm thick; it weighs 6.9g.
This crucifix appears similar to 2011T622 (SOM-B1AD78), dated to the late Medieval period, although this latest example does not have cross-hatching on the cross itself and the figures are less refined.
