An incomplete silver siliqua of Gratian (AD 367-383), dating to AD 378-83 (Reece Period 20). Reverse; VIRTVS ROMANORVM, Roma seated facing on throne, holding reversed spear in left hand and globe in right hand.

Several mints (Aquileia, Lyon, and Trier) produced siliquae of this type for Gratian with mint marks ending [...]PS. the style and reverse type of the current coin in comparison with examples in the British Museum collection suggests it is likely to be from the Aquileia mint rather than Trier or Lyon. Cf. RIC IX, p.100 no. 28a; Hoxne p.141 cf. no. 480. Due to post-depositional damage, only around half the coin survives intact, though it is otherwise preserved in excellent condition.
