An iron hobnail dating to the Roman period. The hobnail has a head which is circular in plan and conical in section. From the underside of the head, there extends a circular-section stem which tapers and is bent. The hob nail measures 14mm in length. The conical head has a maximum width of 7mm. The shaft is square in section and measures a maximum of 2mm in width. The hob nail weighS 0.8 grams.
