Copper alloy apothecaries weight for 2 scruples. It is rectangular and flat and stamped on both sides with the traditional symbol for 2 scruples (like a backwards round backed capital E joined to a y with two dots above it) with a rose above. It measure 11.6mm long, 10.4mm wide and is 1.9mm thick. It weighs 1.63 grams. The presense of the rose indicates this is of the type in use from 1618 AD to around the 18th century (Biggs 1992:8).
