A complete post medieval struck/hammered silver Elizabeth I third issue sixpence, dated AD.1585. The obverse shows a bust of Elizabeth I facing left, wearing a ruffed collar and crown, with a Tudor Rose behind her head. The face is worn, and hard to see, however the hair appears to be worn down. There is an escallop initial mark on both sides of the coin. Legend: [EL]IZAB D [G] ANG FR ET HIB [REGI]. There is a small break in the coin, to the top right of the queens head.
The reverse shows the royal arms which is cut by a long cross (which also cuts the legend).
