Iron age copper alloy brooch fragment, 46mm long, 7mm wide and thick and weighing 10.55grams. The object represents the bow of a brooch and is sub- circular
in cross section with a C shaped form. The object is incomplete at both ends and its body widens out towards its centre before narrowing and at one end has a rectangular cross sectioned projection, which would have formed part of the brooch foot. The upper surface is decorated with a band of decoration contained within incised lines running the length of the bow. This contains a repeat pattern of two diagonal incised lines flanking a rounded depression and ridge. In between there is a field of punched dots.
The bow fits a Hull and Hawkes/Adams type 1A brooch which are dated to 450-300BC.
