An incomplete copper alloy buckle of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1660 - 1720. The buckle is sub-rectangular with a drilled frame for a separate spindle. The corners are rounded and moulded decoration is present on the frame to either end of the spindle. Iron corrosion obscures much of the strap bar and reverse suggesting an iron pin of plate which no longer survives.
The metal has a dull green patina and is worn. The buckle is 33.9mm long, 23.6mm wide, 3.3mm thick and weighs 7.3g.
Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.99 and are dated to circa AD 1660 - 1720.
