A medieval silver coin: a penny of Edward I (AD 1272 - 1307), class 4a (AD 1282 - 1283), London mint. It is 17mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 1.15g. The edges are damaged and the coin is slightly bent. It was also folded when it was discovered, so there are fold lines across the flan. See North, volume 2 (1991), page 29, number 1023.
