Possibly a complete copper alloy sword belt fitting dating from the post-medieval period (c. 16th-17th century). The fitting is small and almost complete. It was attached to a leather strap which is missing now. The fitting appears undecorated, but all surfaces are very worn. The obverse is a square which extends into a flat, curved shank which curves backwards on itself terminating in a loop. On the reverse of the square is a small lug, to which the loop is attached. It was then hammered flat to secure the fitting around the leather strap.
