Pottery. Hard fired reduced fabric with oxidisedmargin, cf. Late Humberware, and possibly with a white slip beneath an internal glossy mid green glaze; rim sherd from a vessel of open form. This sherd was kindly identified by Wallace Collyer of the North Lincolnshire Pottery Research Group. There is some uncertainty as to which is the inside surface; probably the glazed side, which is more usual for later vessels, and might also suggest a lid-seated form. Suggested date: Late Medieval to Early Post-Medieval, 1450-1550.
