A copper alloy hooked tag, Read class E, type 3, dating from the early post-medieval period, AD 1500 - 1650. It has a flat-topped, sub-circular body with a rectangular attachment loop above. On the upper part of the body, below the attachment loop, are two horizontal, oval perforations. The centre of the body carries a moulded openwork design, possibly floral, but now difficult to distinguish. At the base of the body is a narrow, D section curved hook. The reverse of the tag is plain and unmarked. It has a rough, dark brown patina. It is 28.3mm long, 15mm wide and 5.6mm thick. It weighs 1.86gm.
A similar tag is illustrated in Read, 2008, Hooked Clasps and Eyes, page 100, number 375.
