A silver Medieval coin; a groat of Henry VI (first reign, AD 1422-1461), minted at Calais, Annulet issue dating from AD 1422 - 1427. Initial marks: cross II / cross II. See North Volume 2 (1991) page 74, number 1424. The coin is 26.4mm diameter, 0.9mm thick and 3.68g.
Obverse: hEnRIC DI GRA REX AnGL Z FRAnC (saltire stops); Crowned bust facing within a tressure of nine arches (annulets by neck).
Reverse: POSVI/DEVm A/DIVTOR/E mEVm (I have made God my Helper) (double saltire and annulet stops) // VIL/LA/CALI/SIE (double saltire stops); Long cross dividing the inscription with three pellets in each quadrant (and an annulet in two quadrants)
