A virtually complete, Early Medieval, Late C8-10th, cast, copper alloy, one piece strap end. Class B, Type 1, transverse groove design. Simple, narrow, plain type with a split attachment end. Slightly tapering shaft, with a feint moulded transverse ridge half way down and two moulded parallel transverse grooves close to the terminal which is of an acorn shape not zoomorphic. Rather worn with a dark green patina and remnants of a possible white metal surface together with one rusty iron rivet in situ where a corner of the attachment broken away.
