A cast copper alloy artefact, most probably a head-dress pin of the post-medieval period (often known as a bodkin). The artefact is rectangular in cross-section, with slightly rounded corners. The form tapers in width and section along the length. Both ends are broken; both are patinated. The break towards the narrower end suggests that the tip originally extended to form a projecting spike or point. Both of the wider faces are decorated in similar fashion, with a series of disjointed longitudinal incised lines. It measures 88.2mm in length, 4.7mm in width, is 3.2mm in maximum thickness and weighs 6.57g.
Compare NMS-609D14 and NLM-AE7B44; it is difficult to find a parallel for the decoration, but these are similar in form and material.
