An incomplete late Medieval to early Post Medieval copper alloy purse bar, c. 1450-1550 AD. The object consists of a central rectangular section which has a small circular-sectioned arm emerging from each short side. It is undecorated and has the remains of a large oval suspension loop with a ribbed collar, emerging from its upper surface. This loop is attached to a shaft which goes through the centre and would have been held in place with a spherical knop on the object's underside. The arms would have terminated with spherical knops (both of which our missing) and held in place a circular 'washer' which would have had a frame attached to it. It measures 47.11 mm long, 34.57 mm wide and 6.35 mm thick and weighs 24.3 grms.
