A cast lead alloy weight dating to the Post-medieval period 1500 to 1650AD. Cast biconvex weight with a central moulded aperture. The weight has a circular perforation which transverses through the centre and has an internal diameter of 4.5mm. This object may have been used as a spindle whorl. Plain spindle whorls and weights are found in contexts dating from the Roman period through to the Post-Medieval period, circa (AD1 - 1650) though this one is likely to be Post-medieval. The diameter is 29mm and the weight 48.42g.
