Incomplete cast copper alloy hooked tag, probably from a sword belt, with an ovate body which tapers towards the hook, now mainly missing. There is a central rivet hole that is 3 mm in diameter. The hook curves away from the body of the tag and is now only 10 mm long and missing its pointed terminal which would have suspended from an eye attached to a plate mounted on to the belt.
Read (2001) illustrates a similar ovate hooked tag on page 42, fig.25, no.363, which is dated from the 17th century.
Read (2008) illustrates a similar pear-shaped hooked tag from a sword belt on page 219, no.787, which is dated from the 16th to the 17th century.
