A short chain of copper-alloy links of uncertain date, likely c.1400-1900 AD.
Discription:
The links alternate thick and thinner and made of 5 links in total (3 thick and 2 thinner). The thicker rings are around 8.35mm in diameter and width of the links are around 2.74mm and the thickness of the bands are around 1.1mm thick at the points of their joins. The small links are made up of wire rather than bands and are far less regularly shaped. All the links are a dark grey collour.
Measurements: 33.89mm long, 8.32mm wide, 3.66mm thick and 1.32g in weight.
Discussion:
Size of this chain and lack of riveting (which would suggest chainmail) suggests these links are part of a cloak chain or similar decorative clothing element however no indicative element is present to conclusively identify use.
