An incomplete copper-alloy folding clasp fastener of medieval date, c.1300-1450 (Whitehead 1991, 41).
The fastener remains as oval bucklesque frame with narrowed and offset 'strap' bars, the closure plate remains with the rivet designed to hold the now missing rotating closure bar mount, the attachment plate is also missing. The fastener is mottled dark grey and light green colour typical of patinated copper, there is some variation between the frame (almost entirely bright green) and the closure plate, likely due to different composition..
Measurements: 14.91mm wide, 14.63mm long, 4.05mm thick and 1.8g in weight.
