A copper alloy knife tang and integral end cap of late Medieval to Post Medieval date, about AD 1300 - 1700. The tange is rectangular in section and plan, and has circular rivet holes through it for the attachment of the knife handle. Only 20mm of its length survives. Integrally cast at one end is a sub-square knife end cap. It has four holes pierced through it in a quatrefoil pattern, and one of the end corners is expended to the side. A pointed knop projects from the end. The object is 42.2mm long, 18.9mm wide and 7.2mm thick. 14.15g.

Several matching objcts are recorded on the PAS database as mounts, and some as knifes: NMS-EA5C64, DOR-B213C1, GLO-936555 and BH-7FB204 for example. Though these is no exact parallel in Moore (1995) Table Knives and Forks, the general style is sufficiently similar to the knives illustrated to enable this attribution to be suggested.
