A silver sixpence of William III (1694-1702), dating AD 1694-1699. The obverse depicts a bust of William III in profile, facing right. The inscription reads GVLIELMVS / III DEI GRA, with a C below the bust. The reverse depicts four shields around a central cartouche. The cartouche represents the lion of Nassau. The surrounding shields contain three lions (England), a harp (Ireland), lion rampant within a tressure (Scotland) and three fleurs-de-lys (France). The inscription read 16 / [---] MAG / BR FRA / ET HIB / REX. Minted in Chester. Spink no. 3529, 3533 or 3540.
