An unidentified artefact of uncertain date. The artefact is fragmentary being cast from lead alloy. Originally it may have been circular - but only a small section now survives. The fragment has a clear casting seam on both the side edges which has been trimmed and filed. The upper surface has a small circular boss extending from the mid point - whilst the lower section is plain. The surface of the piece is stable with a well preserved polished mid grey coloured surface patina. Due to the small size and lack of diagnostic characteristics an identification is not possible. The recorder suggests, based on design and surface patina, a later medieval date or post medieval date (1300-1650)
The fragmnet measures 20.3mm length, 8.4mm wide, is 9.9mm thick and weighs 4.99 grams
