An incomplete cast lead alloy rumbler bell of Roman - post medieval date (100-1700), but most probably later medieval or post medieval (1350-1700). The bell was originally sub-circular in plan but is now distorted with the lower part being lost. An integral cast sub-rectangular projection is present on the upper edge if the bell which is pierced by a circular suspension hole. The exterior of the bell is heavily eroded and corroded resulting in the loss of most of the patinated surface. A circumferential groove is present at the mid point of the bell and it seems that the lower part of the bell was cut into four D shaped projections which were folded to form the hollow. There is no evidence of an iron clapper within the body of the bell and no obvious means of suspending a clapper; it is therefore more likely that there would have been a small pea within.

The body of the bell has a maximum diameter of 16.4mm and is 15.1mm high; the side walls of the bell are 1.8mm thick, and it weighs 2.82 grams.
