An incomplete copper alloy Chape of Medieval date (1100-1550).The object is composed of Medieval sheet copper alloy rolled around to form a tapering cylinder, which has been slightly distorted creating and ovate section. The vertical joint shows no indication of having been soldered and the tip of the cylinder has been closed by recurving the sheet of copper alloy to create a dome. The upper part of the chape is missing.
The metal is a dark green in colour with some areas of corrosion.
