A late Medieval or Post-Medieval gold finger-ring (posy), inscribed on the inner side of the hoop and decorated with a foliate design on the outer surface.

The finger-ring weighs 2.08g. The hoop is sub-oval in shape, probably having been slightly squashed from its original form either during use or after loss, and has an external diameter of 19.3mm x 18.3mm. The band has a sub-D shaped cross-section, the inner surface of the hoop being flat and the outer surface having a flatter border to each edge either side of a convex ridge. The band has a width of 3.8mm and maximum thickness of 1.2mm. The convex ridge is decorated with a curvilinear foliate design. The inner surface of the hoop is inscribed ◄ VERYTAS * LYBE . RAVYT * the letters and stops being infilled in black. This is a variant of Veritas vos liberabit or Veritas liberabit vos meaning 'the truth shall set you free' see verse 8:32 in the Gospel of John.

A slight dent is present on the edge of the band's rim directly below the '..BE' of LYBE. A join line is visible, on the inner surface of the hoop, in the space between the end and start of the inscription.

See YORYM-B0EB9B (2016T112). Also see NMS-CD7EBE, YORYM-F882A3.
