An incomplete copper alloy Roman plate brooch of the continental type dating to c. AD 100 - 250. The majority of the pin, some of the decoration and possibly some of the catchplate are missing. It measures 34.47mm in length and weighs 4.73g.

The plate consists of a 3 concave circlular platforms layered upon the other, biggest as the base and descreasing in size with each layer forming a pronounced roundel. The biggest circle is 16.69mm in diameter, middle is 10.39mm and the smallest is 4.73mm. The top circular platform has a depressed centre measuring 2.5mm in diameter, suggesting it was used as a bezel. Surrounding the roundel are two circular oval projections with central depressions (4.57mm in diameter) suggesting use as bezels. The oval projections in the compass directions. The lower projection has the left side missing. The projections measure 7.76mm in diameter. The upper projection's exterior face holds the axis bar and the pin. The axis bar is D shaped in cross section and meaures 7.4mm in length, 5.42mm in width and 5.17mm in thickness. The pin is broken and the majority is missing, the remaining top section is attached to the axis bar, measuring 7.06mm in length, 1.46mm in width and 1.55mm in thickness. The lower projection's exterior face holds the catchplate, this measures 9.89mm in length, 5.26mm in width and 1.45mm in thickness. Any enamelling or embellishments that were on the brooch are missing.
