A lead alloy object, possibly a loom weight, most likely dating from the medieval to post-medieval period. It is circular in shape with a central perforation which is sub-rectangular at the top of the object and expands forming a circular perforation at the base. The perforation measures 9mm in lenght and 8mm in width at the top while at the base it measures 15.5mm in diameter. The object is rounded at the top and has a flat base. It has a mid-white patina.
The dating of lead objects of this general type is problematic, and their use is invariably uncertain. The term 'weight' is used here in its broadest sense to include uses that do not involve weighing (e.g. holding-down, tensioning, etc.). They were probably mostly used as net weights, loom weights.
Dimensions: 37mm in length, 22mm in diameter (at the base), 95.75g.
