Cast copper alloy blunt-hooked clasp, Class A, Type 8 dating to the early post-medieval period. This is the hooked section. The object has an oval panel decorated with floral or foliate design with a beaded border. At one end is a flattened hook which is now broken. Either side of this hook are two rounded attachment loops. At the other end there would originally have been a third attachment loop, this is now missing. On each side is a small ornamental lug or knop. The reverse of the object is plain. Reed (2008, 175) illustrates a very similar example No. 663 which he suggests would have had a white metal coating.
