A Complete Gold Finger Ring (posy) of Post-Medieval date (AD 1650-1800). The band is 'D' shaped in cross section with a plain outer face and inscribed inner band. The inner inscription reads: "God : alone : made : us : two : One" this ring has the florid lettering in use in the late 17th and early 18th century.

Makers mark CR in double circle after inscription; the mark does not appear to be recorded in the standard reference works, and so it is not possible to confirm that the ring pre-dates 1716.

The band is sub-circular and has been distorted most probably post depositionally.

Similar examples can be seen on the Portable Antiquities Database: 2008-T331 - ESS-7B4CC7, 2005-T33 - BH-6ED076, SUSS-EABFA7 - 2011-T816 and 2016-T444 - ESS-A0EB7E.

The other examples given have been found to be unable to be securely dated to prior to the 300 year stipulation of the Treasure Act (1996).

Notes:

The ring cannot be securely dated to pre-1716 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

Inscription: God : alone : made : us : two : One
