Incomplete medieval gilt copper alloy spur buckle with a broken and very badly distorted oval frame, a D-sectioned pin and the inside edge of the integral plate missing. Very slight rounded lateral projections flank the pin hole. From these the sides of the plate taper past a rivet hole to a roundel with four small triangular projections beyond which the sides continue their tapering to the break. The only decoration consists of an engraved parallel to the sides and running from the junction with the frame to the rounded. Extant length (from tip of pin to break) 65mm. Width at roundel 15.2mm. 13th - 14th century.
