Medieval copper alloy harness suspension mount, 32mm long, 16mm wide and 8mm thick, with a weight of 8.87grams. The mount is rectangular in form and cross section and has a large rectangular strip emerging from its upper surface. This is folded over and has a central slit to accomodate a suspension loop and circular sectioned bar. The reverse of the plate also has a centrally placed, circular sectioned attachment prong.
The object is decorated with a solid raised border which contains a series of circular and rectangular projections which are arranged in a loose circle sitting above a straight border of rounded projections. This arrangement may represent a curled beast, a dragon? the whole of this surface has traces of gilding. The form of the mount matches one in Clarke, J. 'The medieval horse and its equipment' 1995, pg 67, No 69.
